Highlights


This is the biggest demo update in a long time, the changelog is huge. Remappable button were not easy to implement, they might need some tweaks, but they work. I won't be update the game on here anymore, because I want to focus on the selling it on Steam and itchio, I like Newgrounds, but I don't have much of an incentive to keep supporting the game here and it take time to update stuff and write posts.

The tutorial was overhauled since I realized something about players, if you don't force them to do stuff, they probably won't do it. You would not believe the amount of people who straight out ignore the tutorial text because they didn't need to do what it told them to do and thus they ended up not learning the super abilities. Among other changes, I added walls that can only be destroyed with the super abilities.

The next update will be focused on graphics and music, hopefully it's the last demo update so I can focus on the full release. Here's the full list of changes:


UPDATE v1.3.0 CHANGELOG:


Main Changes:

  • Remappable buttons/key bindings.
  • The tutorial level has been remade.
  • Removed scrolling text in the intro; it will be added back in the full release.
  • Added Dutch language support.
  • Now when you play the game for the first time, you will be presente with a "choose your language" screen, it's not automatic anymore. This is to make sure people play in the language they prefer.
  • Your save file will not work in this version of the game because there's a new save system.
  • Added back joystick support, I don't recommend to use it because it gets buggy when crouching (I'll fix it eventually).
  • PlayStation 4/5 controller support (not fully implemented).

Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed certain checkpoints not working.
  • Fixed some menu buttons moving down when pressed quickly and repeatedly.
  • Fixed a problem in the menus when alternating between using the mouse and the keyboard/gamepad.
  • Fixed a purple enemy not appearing in level 3.
  • Fixed the player appearing inside a wall after dying in level 2.
  • Fixed the player not dying when touching a healing item.
  • Fixed the pause menu not pausing everything.

Gameplay Changes:

  • When landing after using the super flip, you can now press shoot to exit the landing state immediately.
  • The super dash can now stun enemies and has new visual effects (This might be pretty buggy).

Graphical Changes:

  • Changed the logo in title screen.
  • Added a new explosion effect.
  • The power bar has a new animation to make it stand out more.
  • Slightly increased overall screen shake.
  • Enemies shake less when shot and now shake differently depending on the angle of the shot.
  • Smoke now comes out of the player's head after using the super laser.
  • Enemy Changes:
  • Some tweaks to bosses 1 and 2.
  • Blue turret enemy has one more point of HP.
  • Some enemies' bullets are now faster.
  • Spikes' hitboxes are now one pixel smaller.

Other Changes:

  • Removed links from the credits screen; now it's just scrolling text.
  • Corrected some typos and translation issues.
  • To avoid confusion, the "Drawings" option is now called "Illustrations," and "Edit Mode" is now "Custom Mode."
  • If you find bugs or want to request a feature, please let me know.


UPDATE v1.3.1:


  • Fixed game crashing when dying in the tutorial.
  • Fixed tutorial text not working properly.
  • Added missing translations
  • PS4 should work now (Maybe)

Took me a while, but I finally made it work on Newgrounds! I will leave a video so you can see what's new, but you can just go and play right now. Let me know what you think about the new demo and if you find any bugs, repost them please.

I just fixed a couple of bugs and added a better volume option, so you don't have to suffer with the old one. Manuee's adventure will have bigger updates in the future, probably close the june, as I am busy with other projects specially the main one Gravity Storm.

This is the my roadmap for Gravity Storm, meaning my plans/goal for the game. In the roadmap I only mention the most important plans I have. Also, most of it is subject to change and I might add new stuff later.


GRAVITY STORM ROADMAP:

  • Make a Steam version.
  • Graphical improvements.
  • 3 new bosses.
  • Add at least 5 new levels, and tweaks to every existing level.
  • Make a trailer for Gravity Storm.
  • Make a Demo 3 (available on Steam, Itchio, Newgrounds and Gxgames).
  • Release Gravity Storm in April of 2024 on Steam and Itchio with a price of 7 dollars (with price localization).
  • Cutscenes.
  • Change the entire soundtrack.
  • Key binding/button remapping.
  • Redesign the logo.
  • New sound settings: sound effects volume, music volume, master volume.
  • Add a combo system (if you kill more than one enemy at the same time, you receive extra points and a text pop ups saying "double kill").
  • Remake the tutorial.
  • Visible battle damage for enemies and the player.
  • Give every enemy a name.
  • Add Edit/custom mode (a mode where you can change certain aspects of the game like the amount of health, power bar, randomize enemies...).
  • Add unlockable illustrations back.
  • Add "How to play" manual in the pause menu.

Never give a release date unless you are 100% sure you are going to release your game in that date. The full release of Gravity Storm was supposed to be in October, and here we are in November releasing another demo. There has been many delays and problems, but let's be positive and have some fun with demo 2 of Gravity Storm - First Mission, which comes with a lot of changes that will be listed down below, but of course, why reading them now if you can see them for yourself? 


You can play it on your browser on Gxgames, or download it on Itch.io, downloading it is the most stable way to play it. So go play the game, break it, find bugs, but don't forgot to have fun! I am trying to make it work right here on Newgrounds, but that might take a while.

Gravity Storm Demo 2 will come out this Friday on itch.io, gx.games, and Ko-fi. I am also trying to make demo 2 available on Newgrounds but I have some problems makes HMLT exports with Gamemaker (the program I use to make games).


 Due to some problems, I won't be able to make a Steam version of my game until January.
